RECYCLING AT THE STUDIO
It’s important to me that I try where I can to read about new ways to print, package and reduce waste at the studio. I have chosen to work with specific suppliers to print my work based on their brand values and ethics too so we’re on the same page and trying to do our bit while producing new products.
Packaging
Cardboard boxes that come into the studio are reused for packaging up wholesale orders and are kept flat under my sofa for this purpose or any potential future studio/house move!
All cards and gifts sent from the studio are packaged in kraft boxes made from 40-99%. recycled cardboard. They are fully recyclable and are also compostable, leaving no toxicity in the soil. Boxes are sealed using a compostable sticker printed onto acid-free, FSC certified paper and brown parcel tape which can also be added to your recycling bin.
Suzie Winsor Studio Cards
I’ve searched for a while to find the print quality I was looking for whilst also finding suppliers who put environmental policies at the forefront of their own businesses.. For this reason I work with Ashley Print House for the last 4 years, who not only source sustainable print materials - but train their employees on environmental issues, have a Zero Landfill Policy in place and aim to ensure that their business and processes are as environmentally-friendly as possible.
When it comes to recycling a Suzie WInsor Studio card, you can because it’s printed with paper and inks which allow them to be compostable, go in your recycling bin or better still - go in a frame and on your wall because you like the design you want to keep it forever.
Learning About Reducing Waste
This is an ongoing process for me at the studio but in terms of production, the ways in which I produce my cards and gifts is based on demand from my website and also from my stockist. I try to avoid sitting on a lot of stock by clearing certain lines in sales or with offers online. My aim is to design items that people will want to hold onto.
